It was an all Midlothian affair last weekend as the Penicuik and Lasswade U15 teams headed to Dunbar to compete in the Edinburgh and District Bowl Final.
In fact, it was the Penicuik side who settled quickest, with their forwards going through multiple phases of possession and making good ground. Within 10 minutes of the kick-off, two unconverted tries made the score 10-0 to Penicuik.
Seemingly stung into life, Lasswade settled down and began to put their own patterns into effect. A series of penalties eventually resulted in Lasswade crashing over for an unconverted try of their own and then further Penicuik infringements left the referee no option but to issue a yellow card. A good steal from the Lasswade forwards saw play sweep up the hill and a second Lasswade score. The conversion was made for Lasswade to take the lead 10-12.
Penicuik continued to apply pressure leading to a series of penalties against Lasswade. Again seeing no improvement in team discipline, the referee went to his pocket and Penicuik pressed home their one-man advantage just before the break to retake the lead 15-10.
