Dalkeith v Berwick Rugby

Unbeaten Dalkeith welcomed Berwick RFC to Kings Park for a top-of-the-table clash, the visitors one and only defeat came against Dalkeith on the opening day of the season.

A messy scrum early on allowed Berwick to kick well into the home 22, but Dalkeith won their line and then ran out of defence, the ball went out to Naylor on the wing who outpaced the immediate defenders and sprinted for the line, the Berwick defence did finally manage to scragg him by the collar five metres out, but not before the off-load to the supporting Hamilton who dotted the ball down, 5-0.

However, the visitors then stole Dalkeith’s scrum ball and the chip through forced Smith to kick to touch on the home five metre line. A perfect catch and maul from the Berwick forwards then delivered the try, the conversion was kicked to make it 5-7.
