Rugby- Northern exposure leaves Lasswade flat

Lasswade headed north on Saturday for the first earlier kick-off and it brought along with it the wintery weather and a disappointing defeat.

With the thermometer flirting with single figures and a steady cold shower throughout, it’s not surprising that both sides struggled to produce any fluency as cold hands passed the ball waywardly or failed to catch even the better aimed ones.

Aberdeenshire held on to the ball slightly better for the first 20 minutes, keeping their visitors pinned in their half but not managing to convert this occupancy into points.

Against this run of play Lasswade set up a line-out in the Aberdeenshire 22, promptly lost it but regathered the loose ball, flicked it through two pairs of hands leaving the last yard to Hunter to go over for the visitors.

Play returned to the earlier pattern with Lasswade doing most of the defending and the pressure finally told at a five metre scrum when the home number eight picked up and drove into the corner for an Aberdeenshire try.
