In this fixture last year Perthshire earned a four-try bonus point to win 30-8 against a Lasswade side that was not travelling well.
This year, Perthshire had hauled themselves clear of the bottom of the table to sit below Lasswade albeit six points adrift. Given the Midlothian side’s recent form, the result was anything but a foregone conclusion.
The home side repeated the bonus tries, three of them the direct result of Lasswade errors, but could not stop their visitors from scoring six of their own in a much-welcomed end to a run of significant losses.
This was a much more competent and confident display by the Hawthornden 19, but thy will need to be more careful when they take on Kirkcaldy at home this Saturday at the earlier kick-off time of 2pm.
