Michael Leslie spoke of a tough last few months for his family, as he secured a two-year place back on World Snooker’s Professional Tour.

The 21-year-old from Bonnyrigg lost his place on the tour after failing to pick up enough points in the past two years, but after clinching one of the eight available places through the Q School events last week, Leslie revealed the personal suffering he and his family have been through.

He said: “It’s been really tough for us as a family in recent months.

“My dad had a stroke, it was a bit of a shock.

“I knew more than anything else he wanted me to get through so I kept working hard.

“I knew I had to keep working hard in practice, not just for me but for him too.

“I knew it would be a huge boost for the whole family.

“People say you get through these things and come out the other end stronger and I hope this is the case now.

“He’s not far away from getting back to 100 per cent.”
