Dalkeith Campus Taekwondo Club picked up eight medals at the recent Scottish International Taekwondo Championships and will now represent Scotland at the European Championships in Ireland in June.

Six of their nine competitors at the national championships in Perth on February 2 picked up medals.

Coach Catherine Devine was delighted with their success.

She said: “Every time these guys go to a competition they do really well.

“I’m always really proud of them. They work hard for it. It was a great result for us.

“To be honest I was a bit dubious about how they would get on.

“There was a lot of good competition there, 400 competitors. So for them to come away with what they did was great and they have done the club proud.”

Catherine was doubly delighted to see those that have been at the club since a young age do so well.

She said: “We have a group of competitors that go around and compete, they always do really well.

“They are all at a good age. Where this is a real focus for them. We have a lot of teenagers in the group.

“They have been training hard since they were five years old, so they have been part of the club for a long time.”
