ESKVALE Hockey Club had anticipated the worst when faced with the prospect of playing ESM in a pre-season friendly.
The Midlothian team had come up against the slick Edinburgh outfit at a recent tournament and was expected to be put through a stern test. However, ESM and Eskvale used the friendly to combine players from their different teams and the home side proved to be the stronger on the day.
Eskvale caught the ESM keeper cold in the first 10 minutes and used the opportunity to fire in three goals. There was good linking play between all players and the goals came from Lorraine Nicholson-Bennett, Gayle Buchan and Anne Turner.
