Rugby playing pupils from Lasswade High shared a matchday with 10-time English rugby champions Leicester Tigers last Friday and enjoyed the club’s coaching clinic the following day.
The group joined a 20,434-strong crowd for the Aviva Premiership fixture against Exeter Chiefs at Welford Road before taking part in a Tigers matchday coaching clinic and honing their skills with the professionals on Saturday.
As well as soaking up the atmosphere at Welford Road and watching the professionals in action, they even managed to follow in the players’ footsteps by having a team photo taken at half-time in front of a big matchday crowd.
Matchday Coaching Clinics allow teams to work with Tigers coaches to develop their individual and team skills, as well as taking tips and techniques with them to work on.
The Lasswade players also had an opportunity to hear from Italy international prop Michele Rizzo about his life in rugby.
John Tait, from Lasswade School, accompanied the students for their half-time photo with Tigers centre Jack Roberts saying: “The whole experience has been fantastic. We set off really early and everyone really enjoyed getting to see a different part of the country as well as watch some rugby.
“For them to experience that and be given this wonderful opportunity has been fantastic and all the kids have really enjoyed themselves.”
