ROOKIE skipper Kris Steel is banking on Penicuik’s victory over Corstorphine to spark a meaningful revival in his side’s fortunes.
The Kirkhill club had been struggling in the wake of several frontline departures, but Steel led from the front to earn a huge confidence boost for the second half of the Eastern First Division campaign.
Following a superb unbeaten 91, he said: “The result will take a massive amount of pressure off everyone in the squad. I was delighted with my own innings – it was almost three times my previous highest total.”
Corstorphine posted a target of 183, but it proved a straightforward task for Steel and Co as they cruised to glory with eight wickets and eight overs to spare.
