SCOTLAND’S most capped rugby player, Chris Paterson, brought excitement to a recent youth training session in Midlothian.

The nation’s record points scorer was the guest coach for a practice involving Penicuik RFC’s minis and under-15s.

RBS Ambassador Chris was visiting as part of the RBS Supporting Scottish Rugby programme and spent a couple of hours running skills sessions for boys and girls in the P6 group and the under-15s squad.

He took time to sign autographs and answer questions from the mini section and also presented the club’s “Star of the Week” award.

Penicuik’s youth convener Andy Law said: “The kids have been really inspired by having such an outstanding player come to their club to coach them. We’re all really grateful to Chris for taking time out from his busy schedule to visit. Thanks are due to club member Peter Casebow for setting it all up for us.”

Penicuik RFC runs teams for all ages and all are welcome to take part.

Training for minis (P2-7) is on Wednesday from 6.15pm to 7.15 pm and on Sunday from 11am.

Secondary school age training is on Wednesday night at the same time, with other sessions on Monday from 7pm to 8pm and games on Sunday.
