The largest ever number of sidecars will be racing this weekend, at East Fortune Race Circuit.
Melville Motorcycle Racing Club, together with the Scottish Sidecar Club, are hosting Scotland’s biggest sidecar event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the passing of Pencaitland’s Jock Taylor, legendary sidecar racer, who was Scottish champion in 1977, British champion in 1979 and 1980 also World champion in 1980.
Jock and his passenger, Benga Johansson, also became four-times Isle of Man TT winners and raised the sidecar lap record at the TT to 108.29 mph, a record which stood for seven years.
In 1982, whilst racing at Imatra in the Finnish Grand Prix, in very wet conditions, Taylor, aged 28 years, was tragically killed.
