Whitehill on top of the league

As the sun shone down in Rosewell, Whitehill went to the top of the league with the sort of performance that this squad of players have always been capable of, but never quite managed to muster.

The league champions were steamrollered in a scintillating first half hour, and never managed to recover from the onslaught as they were hit by an incredible attacking display.

It was the perfect start for Welfare, as with just eight minutes on the clock they broke the deadlock. Wayne McIntosh saw his cross from the left fall deep to the foot of Steven Manson, who lifted the ball across the face of the goal to be met by the head of Paul Forbes who nodded past Kevin Walker to the delight of the crowd.
