Young grabs winner for Whitehill

Whitehill Welfare 4, Eyemouth United 1

Whitehill Welfare got the new season off to a winning start with a convincing win over Eyemouth United at Ferguson Park on Saturday.

Despite the rain there was a healthy turnout many encouraged by a pre-season which saw six wins and a draw.

In a first half, which the home side dominated, there were chances at both ends. However, a superb finish from Andrew Kidd proved to be the difference between the two sides at the break. Wayne Sproule went close with two identical curling shouts having cut inside from the left wing.
