In a break from the norm in our Now and Then slideshows, this shot shows that Princes Street was actually busier in the 1950s than it was in 2012. It’s a safe bet that the tramworks played a significant part in that however.

Also the passage of time has allowed a tree to grow across from what is now Frasers.
