Newtongrange/ Coatbridge pop duo The Eves set to release new single

An infectious, feel-good anthem that conveys assurance and positivity from the very first listen, Brand New Day showcases the exceptional talent behind the multifaceted duo of Marissa Keltie and Midlothian’s very own Caroline Gilmour.

The Eves first burst onto the scene in 2018 and have been marked as ones to watch ever since, playing music festivals including Trnsmt.

The self-penned Brand New Day was written during the first lockdown and includes Marissa on piano and Caroline on electric guitar, with both on vocals. Producer Lewis Gardner (Nick Jonas, Ellie Goulding) added drums, bass and synth to the track.

Written as a celebration of breaking free, the song was inspired by a friend who had found the inner strength to walk away from a toxic relationship. This, along with the universal theme of finding the courage to break away from restrictive situations and finding that brand new day of promise ahead of you, inspired the lyrics of this single.

Marissa said: “As the first national lockdown struck over a year ago, we were on the brink of some very exciting opportunities but, as with so many others, restrictions took hold and we found ourselves with a relatively empty gig schedule. Still brimming with creativity, we set to work writing and recording a host of new material.

“Brand New Day was one of the first tracks that we wrote last spring. As soon as we came up with the initial melodic hook, it only took us a matter of hours to get the rest of the song down.

"It really got us smiling and brought some happiness to our ears as we celebrated that liberating feeling of breaking free of unwanted constraints, so we knew we had to run with it and get it out there as the world starts to look forward to breaking free of lockdown.”

Brand New Day is out on Friday, April 23 and will be available to buy, stream and download on all major platforms.
