This summer, they will once again be performing as part of the Edinburgh Castle Concerts series, having sold out two nights at the venue in 2016.

What songs will they play?

It certainly sounds like they’ll be rolling out the classics, according to Edinburgh Castle Executive Manager Nick Finnigan: “This is guaranteed to be a special night for Edinburgh audiences as they get to hear the band perform all their hits alongside the iconic backdrop, as once again, Edinburgh Castle transforms into the most impressive entertainment venue in the Capital.”

However, the tireless band also released their 11th studio album, Kind, at the end of last year, once again reaching number one in both the Scottish and UK album charts.

Those who find themselves on the esplanade come summer time can expect to hear a mixture of old and new as the band draws on 23 years of hit songs.

Who else is playing at this year’s Castle Concerts series?

This year, Stereophonics will be joined by their Irish counterparts and fellow UK chart-toppers, The Script.

The Celtic rockers also released an album right at the end of 2019 - Sunsets & Full Moons - so fans will no doubt be in for plenty of fresh material alongside their favourite tracks.

The rock group will play the castle on Friday 17 July 2020.

The rest of the line-up for this year’s Castle Concerts series has yet to be announced but is sure to feature a number of other major names.

In 2019, the castle was rocked by pop queen Kylie Minogue, The Jam legend Paul Weller and Scotland’s very own superstar duo, The Proclaimers.

Past years have seen the likes of Rod Stewart, Blondie, Elton John, Leonard Cohen, Tom Jones and Pink performing at the castle.
