You don’t need to be a boffin to play, organisers insist the gameshow is open to anyone over the age of 18 and will not feature any “tricky questions”.

In the show plucky pairs will go head-to-head as they attempt to solve a series of passwords.

For each password solved, a clue is awarded. The more clues contestants have, the better their chances of moving through to the final, opening the Letterbox and claiming the cash prize.

“General knowledge is not essential, it’s really all about cracking passwords,” says the games casting producer Sian Lloyd.

She said: “We’re keen to get people from different areas of the UK and would like to get some contestants from Edinburgh.”

When asked about the size of the game’s jackpot Ms Lloyd said it would be “big” but could not give a figure at this time.

Hindsight productions will be holding interviews in the Capital for successful applicants in April.
