This Christmas you can do your bit too by popping into Hotel Indigo, on York Place, and dropping off a present for a disadvantaged local child. In return you’ll enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee and a delicious mince pie.

Hotel Indigo is taking part in Forth One’s Mission Christmas, and is a designated drop off point for donated presents.

Mission Christmas is asking people to share the love and buy an extra Christmas present that can be given to a disadvantaged local child, to make their Christmas morning special.

General manager Lynsay Findlay, who has personally given gifts to the mission for more than five years is delighted her hotel is now a drop off spot.

She says, “Guests, locals and staff alike have been getting involved and dropping off presents of all shapes and sizes at the hotel.

“Getting a present on Christmas morning is something we all often take for granted, and it’s easy to forget that there are millions of children living in poverty who won’t receive a thing.

“But every child deserves something to open on Christmas Day and that’s why we are getting behind this cause. We know that every present in that box is guaranteed to bring a smile to a child.”

Staff at the 60 room hotel, which is set within a category A listed building dating back to the 18th century the hotel which was originally five residential properties and still retains some of the original features, including a decorative stairwell and unique cupola, are also donating £10 from their Christmas tips this year.

That would normally go towards their Christmas party but this year will buy a present to brighten up a child’s Christmas day.

In 2015 Forth One raised more than £773,200 in gifts and cash and supported over 14,200 local children.

There are almost 600 drop off points across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife – to find your local drop off point visit www.forth1.com/charity/mission-christmas/
