John McLellan: Maisie the Morningside Cat had good taste in newspapers
Years ago the organisers of the St Andrew's and St George's Church book sale had a special item up for grabs, original artwork featuring the Evening News with all sorts of headline puns featuring cats and dogs.
As the editor, adoptive son of the South Side, and dad to very young kids I had to have it, and £250 later I was the proud owner of Maisie the Morningside Cat reading her favourite newspaper.
It hangs in our kitchen and every time I look at it I will remember Aileen Paterson and the innocent joy she brought to so many people.
