But Paige has been quick to mention her celeb ex to her fellow cast members - and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by Capaldi.

‘Good luck to her’

The singer is aware of Paige’s numerous mentions of their past relationship, and has been quoted as saying that he would have appreciated a heads-up that she was entering. Plus, if she wins, he thinks it’s only fair she shares the money.

Paige dated the pop singer for about a year and has previously said that their relationship ended amicably, with the pair remaining friends.

Lewis echoed this when he spoke on The Edge in New Zealand, saying, “I’ve known her for years. Eighteen when we first met, 19 when we started going out, 20 when we finished going out. It was very amicable, the split.”

However, he didn’t know that she was entering the winter series this year, adding, “She never told me she was going on it. It would have been a nice heads-up. But I mean, fair play, good luck to her.”

Name-dropping

Before entering the villa, in her introductory video, Paige, who is also a singer, said, “One of my ex-boyfriends is actually in the limeligh. He may possibly be Lewis Capaldi.”

In the second episode of the show, Paige also revealed her famous ex to her fellow cast members during a game of ‘Spill The Tea,’ where the hopeful singletons matched which snippet of information belonged to which person.

Sharing the money

When asked if he would be watching this year’s Love Island, Lewis said, “Aye, I’ll be watching it, I’ll be going, ‘Go on Paige, come on’. When she’s on a date with a boy, ‘Come on, kiss him’. I hope she wins.”

But if Paige does win the £50,000 prize money - half of which would go to her Love Island partner - Lewis thinks he should also get a share of the money.

The singer added, “The prize is like 50 grand. I’ll be like, ‘Well, listen… they asked you to go on it, right… I’m not saying I’m the reason. But also, slide me two grand’”.

You can keep up to date with Paige’s time in the villa during daily episodes at 9pm, on ITV2.
