Despite preparing to play the Queen’s Hall this weekend, Pathhead’s ‘singing butcher’ is resigned to being known for his day job.

Iain Hunter, who runs an award-winning butchers in Kinross, will play two 50 minutes sets of swing standards at the Edinburgh venue on Saturday as part of the capital’s jazz festival, joining Jools Holland and Van Morrison.

He said: “I will always be known as the ‘singing butcher’ because first and foremost I’m a butcher, so I think I will never really lose that.

“But at the end of the day people are coming to see me sing, not to get ribs. So it’s starting to change. And I think I’m a better singer than a butcher.”
