It played to more than 750,000 people…. some leaving the theatre a little damper than when they arrived thanks to the iconic rain scenes, in which the rain is heated to 37 degrees for performer comfort.

Those all singin’, all dancin’ slosh scenes use 6,000 litres of water, equivalent in weight to five tonnes. To put that in perspective, here’s a list of things which also weigh five tonnes, 2 Rhinos, 11 Grand Pianos or 30 Panda Bears. The scene also uses more than 100 metres of heavy duty rubber hose and it takes 15 minutes to drain the stage afterwards.

Based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, Singin’ in the Rain features favourite songs Make ‘em Laugh, Good Morning, Moses Supposes and Singin’ in the Rain.
