Dalkeith Miners’ Welfare Club has hit out after becoming caught in the crossfire in a row between Midlothian Council and community groups.
The Woodburn venue has entered an agreement with the council to provide accommodation for groups which are to be made homeless when Dalkeith Community Centre closes.
However, the plans didn’t go down well with everyone, with Woodburn Community Nursery describing the club as unsuitable, “dark and dingy” and of smelling of alcohol.
Club chairman Gregor Hutchison said: “We’ve been attacked from all sides.”
