With Bonfire night just around the corner, we asked shoppers in Dalkeith whether restrictions on sales of fireworks should be tightened up.
The response was mixed, however the majority of people we spoke to felt that yes, they should.
Fiona Deacon (43), Selkirk, said: “I think there should only be organised displays because of health and safety. You get irresponsible parents buying them for kids who go and injure themselves.”
Dorothy Oleksiewicz (31), Edinburgh, said: “If they’re used responsibly then there’s no problem. The issue is how do you control or monitor the use of fireworks to keep folk safe?”
