Stirling Albion and Whitehill Welfare both began their Scottish Cup campaigns at the second round stage on Saturday.
There was drama in the 21st minute as Gareth Thom was adjudged to have pulled down Phil Johnstone in the box, however, McGurk brilliantly saved Jordan White’s spot kick low to his right.
Kerr Dodds’ afternoon was over on 27 minutes as he pulled up injured and was replaced by Stewart Mclaughlin. This lifted Welfare and on 27 minutes the deadlock was broken. A pin point cross from Andrew Kidd was met by the head of McIntosh who found the far corner of the net.
It could have been 2-0 but Somerville blazed a Steven Manson cutback over the bar, then after good work by Johnston, Weatherson headed over for Stirling.
